There are a TON of digital marketing agencies out there — many of these so-called “agencies” are run by people that don’t know anything about digital marketing, but they’re very good at selling. What these fake agencies do is sell you on digital marketing services and then outsource the actual work to people in other countries for the cheap and then they bank the profit. (Believe me, you don’t want anyone from another country working on your digital marketing initiatives!) To me, that’s not cool.
I believe that the people who sell you digital marketing services need to be knowledgeable and experienced with marketing online — they should have real-world experience in digital marketing. (If you encounter a sales rep that has to “go ask one of their experts,” run away. If they don’t have the answers to your questions, they’re not an agency you want to go with.) I have 18+ years’ hands-0n Internet Marketing and Digital Marketing experience. Everything I know I’ve learned by doing it myself…trial and error, reading industry expert books, attending digital marketing webinars and conferences, speaking at and giving digital marketing workshops to local businesses through SCORE — lots of learning and lots of success.
